Getting there!

Lennie is gradually getting the fence up, weather permitting! He had to have a day off yesterday due to back strain, but he is back out there today, dodging the showers! The posts and gravel boards weigh over 9 stone each, and that is a lot of dead weight to keep shifting about! As you can see, some of the posts are in, but we are waiting for Gary, our son in law to come and help put the panels in, as they are very large and have to be lifted above head height to get them in the grooves. I did one with Lennie, but my daughter Sindie was not happy about it! Here are a couple of pictures taken between showers.

Once Lennie gets past the patio and on to the grass, things will become a lot easier and faster for him. At the moment he is having to dig very deep holes through rocks and concrete to set the posts in, but once on the grass it will be mainly earth. He thinks the digging of the holes on his knees was the main cause of his back problem.

The weather for tomorrow seems a little more promising, so we shall have to see how much he can get done then.

He is, as usual, doing a superb job. You must be so proud of him. I'm always boasting to anyone who will listen, about how clever my b-i-l. is when it comes to DIY.

Wow! That will be a great fence when it's finished. It really needs two people to do it though. What a shame we are all getting too crotchety to help :O(

It looks like a lot of work, but it's coming right along. I think it's going to be a nice looking fence. It's certainly high enough.

Happy trails.

What a great job Len. As swubird says, it looks lovely and high, a lot of privicy there then. Topless Sunbathing next year Sandie?

What are you doing about Pickles getting out?

Thank you for all your comments.

It is very hard work, but for Lennie, not me!

I am very proud of him, he is a perfectionist.

Yes it is a shame. The first time Lennie has really needed any help with a job, and everyone is too fragile and elderly now, including Lennie. Hahaha!

When we moved in here there was a very low ranch style fence and no privacy at all. We deliberately made the part where our two kitchens overlook each other high, so as to give us both some privacy. In the rest of the garden the fence is down to 4 foot because we love chatting to each other:0)

Pickles is very good, and we don't think she would venture next door, and although the neighbours have said not to worry and let her have the run of their garden while the work is going on, we have blocked it off overnight.

Looking good Pop, wish I was there to help out, it was hard work but good fun to get all the stuff into the garden. I miss doing stuff like that with you.

As soon as it stops raining you'll have to take some new photos of the fence panels in. It's funny everyone making such a fuss over a fence, but I have seen how much hard work it is for poor old dad and the state he gets in all covered in mud between rain showers! He's such a hard worker. :0)
